Workshop on examples of correspondence with Government:
Creating an archive of common responses from the government and politicians.
GENERAL POINTS ABOUT LETTERS TO OFFICIALS AND THEIR REPLIES
Ministers and post-holders often move on as soon as activists have built up a good relationship with them.
We have an extensive list of replies from officials – and MPs – over several years, but we need to find some way of classifying them by topic and also by type. These variations can be identified.
- Points raised by activist but ignored in reply.
- Points raised by activists answered evasively.
- Additional, and often irrelevant points raised by respondent (not raised in activist's letter).
- 'Genuine' points made by respondent, to which activist can counter-argue.
- Points which are simply untrue or misguided.
